General Information:
This hotel opened in January of 2008, and is a member of the “Preferred Hotels & Resorts”. The hotel is rated a 5 star property. This hotel is located on Medano Beach, and an easy 5-minute walk to town. It has a full service spa and exercise gym.
+ Hotel Accommodations: All the rooms are large and beautifully appointed. They all have kitchens and great amenities, like, flat face televisions, internet access, multiple phone lines and Jacuzzi tubs. All the rooms have a view of the ocean or Lands End.
- Food: Breakfast and Lunch is served in an indoor, glass restaurant
(The Maydan) on the beach. A buffet or ala carte is offered. The food is good but expensive and depending on the time of day you could be very warm due to the large windows. Lunch around the pool is not really advertised and is off to the end of one of the pools. Dinner is offered at the “12 Tribe Restaurant” that has the BEST view of Lands End of anyone on Medano Beach. Unfortunately, this restaurant is open only at night for dinner, features ethnic food and is very expensive. Though they say there is 24 hour room service, there is no certain room menu. You may order from any of the restaurants at the hotel during their hours. What was really a disappointment was NOT being able to order your coffee and breakfast the day before to be delivered the next day at a certain time. Here you call the restaurant that day and order.
- Children Activities: Though they advertise a Kids Club and pool, it is not year around. There is a small wading pool for kids at the far end of the property away from the larger pools and close to the Kid’s Club. Overall from what I saw this property is not where I would suggest for my clients with children unless they are infants.
+ Service: The hotel staff is young and very helpful. We had nothing but wonderful service and friendly smiles by everyone we encountered at the hotel. Like all hotels in Mexico they want you to buy a piece of this property. I will say the group who are selling the timeshares, here are not aggressive as we have experienced in other properties. If you know your clients are not interested in a time share let them know they will be approached but when they say no thank you these people will leave them alone. I respect that as this is not the case in many places.
+ Overall Impression: Beautiful hotel and we would stay there again. We love the location. Yes, the food is not the best but there are many alternatives close by but off the hotel property. This hotel is new and you can see there are still things they must work out.
Hopes for the Future: That this hotel will utilize the 12 Tribes Restaurant for breakfast, lunch or special occasions (i.e. wedding receptions) or even opens a bar in it. At this time this lovely location sits empty all day with one of the best views in Cabo San Lucas. For more information about this hotel please feel free to contact me directly at psandrews2@aol.com
